This time the competition was opened by the Slovak Minister of Education, which shows how highly the competition is valued in Slovakia.
After the opening, the minister toured all the competition areas and came by our competitors too. When he learned that we were from Maribor, he happily told them he knew very well how good the women's basketball team from Maribor is. Well, our boys knew absolutely nothing about that and just shrugged, and the organiser explained to the minister that these were a special “category” of young men, so devoted to their work that they are less aware of what goes on around them.
The boys really did programme all day, only to find at the end that nothing worked the way it should. Bojan and Matej's robot can't climb the ramp, and Matjaž and Simon have problems with a damaged colour sensor. That could be the biggest handicap, because the robot won't detect the black tiles, which leads to negative points and sends the robot back to the start. If the black tiles are placed unfavourably on the course, the robot will hardly be able to score any points.
We'll see today . . .
